Lot 12 - QYP: Wilton Benitez Florez

Wilton Benitez is a farmer who is passionate about technology. For 16 years, he found his future in specialty coffee growing, starting as a picker after being displaced by violence from his hometown of Urrao (antioquia). he began by understanding why each variety has a different flavor. Then he studied how climate and soil conditions affect sensory quality and finally developed new equipment to facilitate the processing of specialty coffees. Wilton acquired his first farm in 2015 (Granja Paraiso 92) with an extension of five hectares, where he built his first house himself, the house where he currently lives. varieties such as geisha, caturra, castillo, java, pink bourbon and pacamara are grown on this farm. Wilton Benitez is convinced that the future of specialty coffee farming depends on technology to guarantee quality and fight climate change.
